Respite & Hospice Care

Shared Care

This scheme has been running successfully for several years. social workers introduce parents to families who are willing to have a child with severe learning difficulties join their family for a day, weekend or longer period. Parents interested in the scheme should ask for details from either the headteacher or their social worker.

Direct Payment Carers

Social care packages may include direct payments which allows parents/carers to employ a carer to support their child to activities or clubs in the local community which offers some respite. If you require a carer you can download this form and email it to admin@amwell.herts.sch.uk or send into the front office to see if any staff are interested.

Pastoral Care

Every effort is made to offer help and support to the child and to parents who are advised of the correct avenue to take should a problem arise. Please do not hesitate to contact the Headteacher at school.

Respite Care

In conjunction with support from social services, pupils may benefit from short periods of time in residential establishments during holidays or in school time. Arrangements for respite care must be communicated to the school in writing. The following establishments are more frequently used:

This is in Bedfordshire and provides a range of services for families whose children have life limiting conditions.
